We're planning a partnership with a local storyteller group on the Nakahechi pilgrimage route. Trail conditions from local storytellers are shared via the Tanabe Community Board. Individual storyteller profiles are coming soon.
The Kumano Kodo 語り部 (kataribe) are local guides and residents with deep knowledge of the trail. Conditions reports — trail closures, weather, wildlife sightings and seasonal highlights — are shared via the Tanabe Community Board.
This is what sets this site apart from guidebooks and tourism boards: the aim is current, specific information from people who are actually on the trail.
