Hongu

熊野本宮大社

The spiritual heart of the Kumano Kodo — home to Kumano Hongu Taisha, one of the three Grand Shrines of Kumano. After days of mountain walking, most pilgrims rest here before continuing to Nachi. Hongu is also the gateway to Yunomine Onsen, a historic hot spring and a UNESCO World Heritage bathing site.
